Our 5 Purposes
The purpose of First Assembly is to glorify God by helping people to come to know and worship Jesus, to build caring relationships, to serve others, and to grow spiritually. We endeavor to do so by making five foundational biblical purposes our priority:
Honoring and celebrating Christ in our lives through godly living as individuals and through regular worship and study of God's Word together as a church family. (Psalm 95:6-7; Matthew 22:37-38; John 4:24; Acts 2:46-47; Ephesians 5:19-20; Hebrews 10:25)
Encouraging, supporting, praying, caring for, and in other ways encouraging one another in personal family life and in the family of God. (Matthew 22:29; John 13:34-35; Acts 2:42,46; Romans 15:5-7; Hebrews 10:24-25)
Ministering unselfishly to others, both outside and inside the church family through discovering and using our God given gifts and abilities to meet their spiritual, physical, and emotional needs. (Matthew 25:34-40; Galatians 5:13; 1 Thessalonians 5:11; 1 Peter 4:10-11)
Sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with as many people as possible in our community and throughout the world, with a heart of compassion to meet their needs. By serving our neighbor we are serving God(Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Acts 2:47; 2 Peter 3:9)
Our Vision
We plan to change the way we do church by...building a caring community of believers committed to balanced spiritual growth, so that no one in our church is without close relationships and support...developing and expanding the number of caring leaders who will lead the way to... provide care and support for everyone in our church... improve communication within and from our church ...reaching as many non-Christians as we can with the Good News of Christ from within the various groups of our community to…influence our community for the cause of Christ
Our Values
We believe that anointed, biblical teaching is the catalyst for transformation in the individual's lives and in the life of the church. We believe that a church should operate as a unified community of servants with men and women using their spiritual gifts. We believe that loving relationships should permeate every aspect of church life. We believe that love needs to expressed in real and tangible ways allowing life change to happen. We believe that manifesting authenticity and yearning for continuous growth and sole devotion to Christ is normal for every believer.
